Previously we discussed that God is, God was and God always will be. He is eternal. There is none higher. All things begin and end with God. As such, we also established that God created the heavens and the earth and all things in it. This means that God created time, space, matter, and energy. The creation of time is established in the opening phrase of Genesis 1, “In the Beginning”. The creation of space, matter and energy is included in the statement, God created the heavens and the earth. These interact in a space-Time continuum. Hermann Minkowski in 1906 made the following description of the Space-Time Continuum. “S]pace by itself, and time by itself, are doomed to fade away into mere shadows, and only a kind of union of the two will preserve an independent reality.” https://einstein.stanford.edu/content/relativity/q411.html .
Matter and Energy and their relation to one another as stated in certain physical laws of nature such as the First, Second and Third Law of Thermodynamics are extremely complex. They can only partially be understood by the brightest minds. Moses did not write Genesis 1 for the brightest minds on earth. God did not intend to bog down understanding of the significance of mankind in relation to God and God’s creation with a complex physics lesson. Moses as inspired by God wrote Genesis 1 to be a simple, concise but accurate description of God, creation and His relationship with man.
God is complex but His message to mankind is incredibly simple. God created everything including man (male and female). God gave one prohibition to man, which involved the choice between life and death. “Do not eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. But, Man disobeyed and thus chose death.
However, God provided a plan to redeem mankind through mercy and grace. This plan culminated in the birth, life, death, resurrection an d ascension of Jesus Christ. Jesus voluntarily offered His own life to satisfy and conquer the penalty of death for all mankind. The only requirement is they confess Jesus as Lord and believe in the hearts that God raised him from the dead.
Romans 10:8-13 explains how simple it is to be saved for all eternity: “8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (All scripture references are NKJV Nelson Publishing unless otherwise noted).
The simple story of creation is summarized by Moses in Genesis 2:4-7: “ This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground. But a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
In Genesis, the creation process is set out in six days with God resting on the seventh day and is described in a mere 34 verses. Neither God nor Moses intended these 34 verses to be a full description of the physical laws and time used by God to create the heavens and the earth and all life. However, these 34 verses are a true and undisputable description of the universe, the earth and life as we know it regardless of the numerous flawed attempts by atheistic and evolutionary scientists to prove otherwise. The message of Genesis 1 is simple: to wit, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”.
